Submission Guidelines

Overview

The Nigerian Journal of Solar Energy (NJSE) invites submissions of original research articles, review papers, case studies, and technical notes that advance knowledge in solar energy and renewable energy technologies. All submissions undergo rigorous double-blind peer review to ensure high-quality publication standards.

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be prepared in English and must be original work not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.

Structure of a Manuscript

• Title Page: Concise and descriptive title, full author names, affiliations, ORCID IDs, and corresponding author contact details
• Abstract: 150-250 words summarizing objectives, methods, key findings, and conclusions
• Keywords: 3-6 relevant keywords for indexing
• Introduction: Background, research gap, and objectives
• Materials and Methods: Detailed methodology for reproducibility
• Results: Clear presentation of findings with appropriate statistical analysis
• Discussion: Interpretation of results, comparison with previous work
• Conclusion: Summary of key findings and implications
• Acknowledgments: Funding sources, technical assistance
• References: Complete and properly formatted citations

Formatting Requirements

Figures & Tables

• Figures: High-resolution images (300 dpi minimum) in TIFF, JPEG, or PNG format
• Graphs: Editable vector formats (EPS, SVG) preferred
• Tables: Created using Word's table feature, not images
• Captions: Numbered sequentially (Figure 1, Table 1) and placed below figures / above tables
• Placement: Figures and tables should be embedded within the text near their first mention

Ethical Standards

NJSE adheres to the highest ethical standards. Authors must ensure:

• Originality: Work is original and properly cited
• Plagiarism: All submissions are screened for plagiarism; similarity index must be below 15%
• Conflicts of Interest: All potential conflicts must be disclosed
• Authorship: All listed authors must have contributed significantly
• Human/Animal Studies: Must include ethics approval statements
• Data Availability: Data should be made available or clearly stated where it can be accessed

Submission Process

1. Register: Create an author account on the journal website
2. Prepare: Format manuscript according to guidelines
3. Submit: Upload manuscript and supporting files via online submission system
4. Initial Screening: Editorial team checks scope, formatting, and plagiarism
5. Peer Review: Double-blind review by 2-3 independent experts (4-6 weeks)
6. Decision: Author notified of editorial decision
7. Revision: If required, revise and resubmit
8. Final Acceptance: Manuscript accepted for publication
9. Production: Copyediting, typesetting, and online publication
