History and Development
Formation and Early Vision
The Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (SESN) was established as a professional and academic platform
to promote the development, research, and application of solar energy technologies in Nigeria.
The Society emerged in response to the growing need for sustainable and renewable energy
solutions to address Nigeria's persistent energy challenges.
The Society was founded by engineers, scientists, researchers, policymakers, and renewable
energy advocates who recognized Nigeria's vast solar energy potential. Located in the tropical
region, Nigeria receives abundant sunlight throughout the year, making solar energy a viable
alternative for national development.
